The Niagara Region has more than 200 scenic cycling routes for you to choose from. The routes vary in length, terrain and scenery, so there are paths for all cyclists to enjoy no matter how experienced you might be. You can bike along Lake Ontario, the Welland Canal or through special heritage sites that the Niagara Region has to offer. One of the most scenic biking routes in Ontario is a ride down the Niagara Parkway. The Parkway, which begins in Fort Erie, winds along the Niagara River, through Niagara Falls and into the historic Niagara-on-the-Lake. This bike route is a favourite among visitors and locals for two reasons. It’s an easy, flat route with separate bike paths that allow you to stay off the road for long stretches of the trip and secondly, the view is absolutely breathtaking.
The Parkway takes you beside the Niagara River, following it until it hits Niagara Falls, and then along the incredible Niagara Gorge, which then leads into the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. You’ll also pass through the heart of Niagara Falls’ tourist district too so be sure to stop in to the Falls Avenue Resort for a break!
Niagara is home to many beautiful parks, forests, green spaces and nature trails. Be sure to put some time aside on your next visit to see it for yourself.
