Breakfast Television – CityTV visits Niagara Falls

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Thank you to everyone who came to see Breakfast Television this morning-especially the guests who reserved a stay at the Sheraton on the Falls so they could join the audience for the 6am start. We had a great time and fortunately the weather co-operated (for the most part-a few sprinkles here and there were hardly enough to dampen spirits). Danny Fernandes and Alyssa Reid got the day off to a great start with energetic performances and delighted fans by sign autographs and posing for pictures.
We must also thank the entire CityTV Breakfast Television crew for their long hours and for tireless effort in bringing Niagara Falls and the Falls Avenue Resort into the homes of their viewers.

Here are some of the moments we captured with hosts Kevin Frankish, Jennifer Valentyne, Dina Pugliese & Frank Ferragine.

Niagara Falls participates in annual Terry Fox Run

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

It’s hard to imagine that what began 30 years ago by a young man in an act of defiance against Cancer would now stretch across the Globe as one of the largest fundraising events in the World.  This weekend, cities across the World including Niagara Falls will put feet to pavement for the annual Terry Fox Run.  A Canadian icon, Terry Fox captured hearts with his Marathon of Hope, a run that he planned to take him from coast to coast to raise funds for Cancer research, a run that would tragically end when lung Cancer would force him to stop.

The fall tradition is held on the second Sunday of the month following Labour day, chosen by Terry to mark when his heroic run had to end and when Canadians had to start.  This year’s run will be held on September 19, 2010 at Oakes Park and will mark its 29th year.    The fundraising campaign kickoff will begin with a barbeque at City Hall on Wednesday with proceeds to the Terry Fox Foundation.  To date the Terry Fox Foundation has raised more than $500 million towards the fight to end Cancer.
