What should I know about before traveling to Canada?
Currency: Due to exchange rate fluctuations, the most beneficial method of payment would be by credit card. The balance owing would be charged to the card in Canadian, and then processed into the currency of the country the card is issued from by the credit card company based on the rate of the day. The Front desk may be able to do an exchange in small denominations, however, a local bank would be the best option.
Electricity: Outlets and voltage (110 volts) are the same as in the United States.
Language: Canada’s two official languages are English and French, but English is the predominant language in Ontario. Many banks, hotels, airline offices, service institutions, shops and key tourist destinations have multilingual staff.
Do I need a passport to travel to Canada?
All non Canadian citizens will require a passport, or approved document to travel by land or air in North America. This is effective June 1, 2009.
